Hudson Valley Newslink has closed. The newspaper wholesaler that had served retailers in the Poughkeepsie, NY area for more than 100 years closed in late-September. In a related move, Queen City News, another area newspaper wholesaler owned by the same parent, also closed.
Newspaper distribution continues without interruption.
NDA North, an affiliate of National Distribution Alliance, purchased the assets of Hudson Valley Newslink and now provides wholesale distribution to more than 1,000 retailers in the Poughkeepsie area. Retailers select from a list of hundreds of local, national and international newspaper titles that NDA North offers, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and the New York Post.
NDA North gives area retailers more ways to profit.
In addition to newspapers, NDA North offers retailers a wide selection of best-selling consumer and business magazine titles, including Time, People, Entertainment Weekly, Bloomberg Business Week, The Economist, Vanity Fair, the New Yorker, Sports Illustrated, Maxim and Playboy.
Hudson Valley Newslink spanned four generations of one family.
Tom Hopfenspirger, HVN’s principal, said the decision to close was made with “mixed emotions” and called it a “privilege” to serve retailers, publishers and the newspaper industry.
