Magazine content consumption up 10%

Mobile and video surge driving total magazine content consumption up 10% to 1.48 billion. Jeffrey Trachtenberg in the Wall Street Journal (subscription required) reports that during August and measured year over year, 101 magazines saw readership increases while 46 had declines.

Trachtenberg also reports that the Alliance for Audited Media is launching an innovative new audience-measurement tool that will report magazine content consumption by platform, including print, digital, mobile web and online video. AAM will add social media to the dashboard later this month. AAM’s tool will also aggregate total readership. Previously, marketers struggled to compile and analyze disparate readership metrics they acquired from a variety of sources.
